Dear Sacred One,
Welcome to Week 1 of the Self-Sacredness Series.
This week, we will be focusing on Heart-Centeredness.
Note: When I refer to Heart-Space, where the heart chakra resides, I am referring to the center of your chest. Not limited to the physical heart, but this area is included.
When I came up with the idea for this series, I thought, OK. Something that will be easy to navigate, teach, work through, and explore together.
Right?
Well, it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be.
Are we still going forward? Hell yeah.
I'm going on this journey with you. This is meant to meet everyone right where they are.
One thing we can probably all agree on is that the world could benefit from healthier connections and communication.
It’s loud. Things are wonky.
As I started exploring my connection to my heart center, I realized how much I listen to my brain. Which isn’t a bad thing, but I have learned a few things about myself and what happens when I listen with my heart.
Example: I go on a run. Legs start hurting, brain goes shit. This is really fucking hard. I can’t breathe. I am done. Can’t do anymore.
I take a pause. I find my center and take a breath. I feel into my chest and ask, “Is that true?”
And nine times out of ten, it isn’t true for me. I tune into my heart and feel the exact opposite. My heart says, “Psh. You got this. Go.”
This is a form of discernment. We can connect to ourselves through the heart, mind, body, emotions, and soul. We connect with the outside world the same way.
So what happens when someone outside of the self says, “You can’t run. You suck.”
Maybe the belief gets in. Somehow, it slips in through the cracks. And maybe we add it to our mental file cabinet. Thus, blurring our relationship with ourselves. We knew before we could run. We met someone faster, probably more insecure. They don’t want you to believe that you can run.
And when we experience this internal disconnect from ourselves, it’s possible we project this belief outwardly and connect to the world in this distorted sort of way. This creates a cycle.
When we lead and listen through the heart, a cycle of love will thrive.
With that being said.
You. Can. Run.
Affirmation for the week:
My sacred heart steadies me, supports me, and leads me with divine certainty.
Let’s begin with some heart-centered awareness.
Close your eyes and take a moment to tune in to yourself.
Where do you feel that you are most present right now in your body?
(For me, I usually feel most of my awareness behind the eyes. I do grounding throughout the day to help me feel fully present within my body.)
Wherever you feel you are, can you shift your awareness to your heart space?
It takes practice to maintain awareness in a specific area of the body, so try to be patient with yourself.
All of our heart-centered practices from here will be taking place from our centered heart space.
Sacred Heart Gratitude Ritual
I recommend finding a quiet space. Close your eyes and place your hand on your heart center.
While generating thanks and gratitude to your heart, recite the following:
Thank you for all that you have carried.
Thank you for all that you have surrendered.
Thank you for being a constant source of love in my life.
Thank you, thank you, thank you
I love you, I love you, I love you
Heart-Centering Poetry
For the purposes of this exercise, we will be channeling our heart space.
(You can channel, too. It’s not just a psychic thing. It’s a connection, thing.)
Before you begin, take three deep breaths and ask your heart to come into your awareness and to be present with you.
(Talk to your heart as though you are talking to a friend. You may be surprised what comes through.)
Intend to write from your heart space and channel a message from your heart to yourself.
What message does your heart have to share with you?
We have an unlimited supply of love to share with ourselves. All we have to do is be open to receive it.
I attempted to write the following poem on several occasions and kept getting stuck. My throat chakra and space were pretty blocked. I realized the poem wanted to be messy.
Here is what I ended up with:
Let it
Love can be messy
We don't exist to be perfect
We live to love
Love. Woven into the tapestry of life
In every golden thread
We exist
Love is a divine and splendid thing
We tangle it, dismiss it
Try to snip it
And yet, it does not snap
Constant and ever-flowing
Leaking through the cracks
Let it
Thank you for taking the time to be here and connect today.
Feel free to share in the comments or the chat!
If my work resonates with you and you’d like to share it with others, I’d appreciate that.
There is additional paid bonus content in a separate post for those who wish to deepen their practice and exploration. The practices include Heart-Centered journal prompts and a ten-minute audio meditation with Shamanic energy work to help support connection and expansion of the heartspace.
I hope you enjoyed!
With love,
Lindsay
